White Tailed Deer





Order: Artiodactyla
Family: Cervidae
Genus: Odocoileus
Species: O. virginanus

Identifying Characteristics:

Fur Coat: reddish-brown, spring and summer time; grey-brown, fall and winter time

Tail: white on the underside

Male: 130-300 lbs, antlers

Female: 90-200 lbs

Special Characteristics:

- The make deer re-grow their antlers every year

- White-tailed deers are herbivores

- They can be found in southern Canada and most of the United States, except for the Southwest, Alaska and Hawaii

- Their habitat is primarily wooded areas
